How to use iPad's new feature "Quick Memos" on Mac

macOS Monterey has made one of the iPadOS 15 features, Quick Notes, available on the Mac. [See all images] How to use the new iPad function "Quick Memo" on Mac With the new Quick Memo function, you can take notes anywhere on your Mac. What's more, this feature can be activated with just one gesture or keyboard shortcut. Let's take a closer look.

How to create a quick note from anywhere

When you want to jot down something in a hurry. Instead of looking for the Notes app, hover over the bottom-right corner of the screen. A small white box will appear there. Clicking on this box will launch this new quick memo feature. From here, the new note will open in its own window, on top of all other windows (quick notes will remain visible even if you switch apps). Now you can start taking notes and close this window when you're done. The next time you do this, the Notes app will open your last used note so you can see what you left off. If you want to create a new note, use the keyboard shortcut "Command + N".

How to Add Links to Quick Notes

While only Safari works with the Quick Notes feature (more on that later), Apple doesn't allow you to add links from any other app you have open. We have prepared a function that allows you to add the link directly to the quick memo. After launching Quick Memo, click the "Add App Link" button on the toolbar at the top. You'll see a list of website and app links available from various browsers and apps. Click the Add Link button next to a link to add it to your note. Quick Notes is still a full-fledged note in the Notes app, with all the formatting and media options you've always used.

How to create a new note each time you launch Quick Notes

What if you don't want to see the same note every time you use the Quick Notes feature? There is a setting to create a new note each time you use the quick note gesture. To enable this, open the Notes app, click Notes in the menu bar, go to the Preferences section, and uncheck "Resume last quick note" here.
